I am a Turkish medical doctor living and working in Izmir. My field of specialization is Neurosurgery and my major clinical interests are focused on spinal disorders. I was always passionate about exploration and travel. I have been on all continents and I have stepped on all major tectonic plates (including Antarctica). I have traveled 50% of the areas on the world with a total distance of 831,800 km by now (according to TripAdvisor).
More importantly, my trip map is quite balanced. I was closer than 5,000 kilometers to every point on Earth (including the oceans). As far as possible, I stayed away from organized tours and traveled alone as a citizen. The main purpose during the trips was to see the trademark of the place I went, which is make that place unique. I chose not to spend any time / money for things that are similar or better in other places.
Over the years, I realized that I have provided a very serious knowledge of travel and exploration, and some of my knowledge and experiences have not been found in any travel book or web page. I decided to edit it on the Internet so that this accumulation could not be lost. Any information I provide on this website is my own experience directly. All photos and videos belong to me. All rankings are my own choices, and - naturally - are purely subjective. Inevitably, the entire list has been selected from 50% of the world's areas that I have visited. The remaining 50% could not enter the list because I have not yet visited. However, since I go to almost all of the most important places on Earth, I am relieving the negative effects of this handicap. I also continue to explore the world and I will continue. If I'm in the middle of a trip, I'll share it on the “current trip” page. I will update the list if there are any new places that are eligible to enter the list.
This is a ranking site and its main purpose is to assist adult individuals who are passionate about travel and discovery to choose where to go, from the perspective of a neurosurgeon. Topics such as how to get there, how to buy tickets, where to stay and where to eat are not among the aims of the site. For each of these issues, there are many sites that I use and are almost perfect. This site also is not interested in the honeymoon, child-friendly, and mass tourism destinations, unless it is an attractive destination for solo travelers.
I gave the exact coordinates of each photo below to find the exact location of the locations I mentioned. If you put these coordinates in the map programs (Google Maps, Yandex Maps, etc.) and the Google Earth program, you will get to the point where the photo was taken. I also wrote about which camera (or cell phone) the picture was taken with. In addition, when you click on the map icons at the bottom of the pages, related maps will be opened. In these maps, the places described are marked. Directly click on those marks to get directions, and you can come to the exact point.
You may find a lot of useful information on the ”You may be interested" page, like as “25 Questions you should ask about Northern Lights (and their detailed answers)”, “Guaranteed formula to see Northern Lights in ten items”, “Why is the mobile phone superior to the SLR camera for a traveler?” My comments on these pages are shaped by my own experiences.
You can write your comments and suggestions to the
“comments and suggestions” page. I’ll try to answer if you have any questions. I will update the information given in line with your suggestions.
I hope you’re your travel dreams come true and be fortunate to see these wonderful places firsthand.
