1-If possible, come in the solar maximum. But it doesn’t mean it is impossible to see Northern Lights in Solar Minimum. I went to see Norhern Lights in 2018 and I have seen the lights at my first night. My formula makes it gurantee to see the Northern Lights. At the solar minimum year, you will see the northern light, but the northern lights you will see in the solar maximum year will be stronger, more vibrant, more impressive.

2-Choose the dark (new moon) days closest to 20 March

3-Come directly to Abisko.

4-Never mind all the nonsensical tours like “Aurora chasing tour”, “Northern Lights Photo tour” and so on.

5-Come straight to the lake. Don't stop on the lakeside, keep walking. Walk to the island in the middle of the lake (But you can freeze, if you don't dress very, very, very well)

6-Be over the lake between 22:30 and 00:30

7-If your Aurora Foracast Application estimates a geomagnetic activity at Kp4 level (or above) for a certain period of time, then be over the lake during that time.

8-You can even take pictures with your mobile phone, but the tripod is a must

9-Stay three days in Abisko and repeat it every night

Nowadays smartphone cameras are more superior to classic cameras in terms of travelling. Why?
1- It’s most important advantage is to record GPS coordinates of every single place of the photographs.
2-Carrying a large camera, swinging from your neck with its strap, makes you exactly look like a tourist which attacts scammers and thieves etc., carrying your smartphone in your pocket don’t (Yes, you are a tourist but you musn’t look like so, especially in dangerous places).
3-Carrying the mobile phone is extremely easy compared to carrying a large camera and doesn’t prevent you from walking after a while.
4-Your smartphone fits everywhere (best place is your pocket) but your large camera don’t.
5-You cannot take photograhps in the photography banned places (like in Sistine Chapel in Rome) with your large camera, but you can with your smartphone (secretly of course).
6-It's unlikely you could forget the cell phone you were carrying in your pocket, but you can leave your camera somewhere once you pull it off your neck. Carrying everything in the pockets of the pants (not jacket, coat, etc.) is the number one rule for a traveler. It prevents them from forgetting somewhere or stolen.
7-With the mobile phone you can take photos very quickly so the probability of missing a scene is little.
